A week ago, Korean Air made worldwide headlines when it was announced they were going to stop serving instant noodles as a snack item because the hot water makes it too dangerous. According to the airline, per USA Today: “Korean Air has renewed its in-flight snack service to offer a variety of snacks such as sandwiches, corn dogs, and hot pockets in economy class. This decision is part of proactive safety measures in response to increased turbulence, aimed at preventing burn accidents.”

Customers were up in arms but after seeing the video posted by A Fly Guy’s Network on Instagram (embedded below), they might understand why now. The post’s caption reads: “Severe Turbulence Injures 4 Korean Air Cabin Crew and 10 Passengers. Severe turbulence struck a Korean Air Airbus A330, injuring 10 passengers and four cabin crew members. The incident occurred on Sunday around 8 a.m. local time, shortly after Korean Air flight KE197 departed from Seoul Incheon International Airport en route to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.”

A Fly Guy has amassed quite a following, especially with flight attendants, and you can tell most of the popular comments below were from crew members:

@Daaimikedaaimike: We should play this kind of video besides regular safety video so that cabin crew can save the time explaining why pax should fasten the seatbelt instead of going to toilet when the seatbelt sign comes on

@jarylleadriane: Omg im flying with them soon. Im sad about serving the ramen situation but I get it now. Omg

@stenmeller: Yesterday it took me ten painful minutes to explain a father of two kids why his daughters mustn’t play on the floor and run around the cabin unattended. I hope he saw this video.

@bamagal62: Always keep your seatbelts fastened even when you think it is smooth

@joanne_ekp: And the saddest part is that passengers quickly forget the importance of keeping their seatbelt fastened and complain when they are sleeping and the seatbelt sign comes on and we wake them to fasten their belt. Pax can take their frustration out on crew when all we are doing is keeping them safe. Shameful behaviour

@dpatriciabcaycedo: And the passengers don’t believe and don’t follow the crew’s instructions. 🤔

So the next time you’re flying, this is a good reminder to always keep your seatbelt on when seated and not get up when the pilot has the seatbelt sign on, especially if they ask the flight attendants to return to their seats.
