Air Canada Aeroplan became a Chase Ultimate Rewards® travel partner back in 2021. This addition added more value to the loyalty programs for these three credit cards:
- Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card
- The Chase Sapphire Reserve®
- Plus the Chase Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card
Already some of the best Chase credit cards, thanks to their flexibility and travel perks, having another airline to transfer points to can help stretch out those miles.
Here are some things to know about redeeming Chase points to Aeroplan.
Air Canada 1:1 Point Transfers
Eligible Chase credit cards can transfer Ultimate Rewards to Air Canada Aeroplan at a 1:1 ratio in 1,000-point increments.
You can redeem the airline miles for award flights on Air Canada or approximately 40 other airlines. Air Canada is part of the Star Alliance loyalty network. So, for example, you can also book partner flights on United Airlines or Singapore Airlines.
Award flights start at 6,000 miles.
Additionally, another valuable perk is adding stopovers on international journeys for as little as 5,000 miles. You can combine Aeroplan miles with other family members to book award flights sooner.
As Aeroplan has several award charts, its Points Predictor tool can estimate the number of miles you need for a journey.
Aeroplan Credit Card
If you travel to Canada or with Air Canada often, perhaps you’re better off with the Aeroplan® Credit Card. It’s a co-brand Chase credit card that comes with airline perks. Not only can you get a fee credit for Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, or NEXUS, but you can also get a free first-checked bag.
Cardholders can earn:
- 3x points on grocery stores
- 3x points on dining at restaurants
- and 3x points on purchases made directly with Air Canada
All other purchases earn 1x point per $1 spent.
Plus, cardholders can earn an additional 500 bonus points for every $2,000 spent in a calendar month (up to 1,500 points per month).
New Aeroplan® Credit Card cardholders can earn 70,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening.
The annual fee is $95, and there are no foreign transaction fees.
